Visited Clark Street Bread earlier today, and it reached my expectations about 3/4s of the way. First, I love the variety of baked bread. The display of bread is honestly beautiful and I wish I had more money to take some home. However, I mainly visited to try their chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant has so much potential, I just wished it could have been warmed up somehow. I just don't understand how a chocolate croissant can be served cold, without the chocolate melted a bit. In addition to a cold chocolate croissant, the placement of chocolate could have been better. You get about 2 sticks of chocolate in the croissant but it's all to one side of the croissant, so the other side is just bread...uneven bites of chocolate. One stick placed on both side of the croissant would have been perfect. Aside from those two little faults, the airy texture, visible layers on the outside sides, amount of flakiness, and slight crisp crunch per bite is soo nice. The chocolate croissant is even a perfect size. Overall a 7.7/10 chocolate croissant. I also had to try Clark Street Bread's avocroissant, which was wow. I can't believe I've never thought to put avocado on a croissant. It paired amazingly. I loved the touch of a bit of olive oil, lemon, and the chili flakes and the amount of avocado is generous. Thank you so much.
