Took myself for a chocolate croissant breakfast the morning of my birthday. I’ve spent nearly a whole quarter without visiting one bakery on my list. Day of my birthday, I decided to skip classes and take myself to Pitchoun Bakery & Café...I think I was pretty deserving of it. I’ve missed taking the time to go out to different bakeries. Parking was quite ridiculous but parking 2 blocks away on 8th street and ending up paying $6 for just visiting the bakery wasn’t too bad. Upon arrival, Pitchoun was cute, relaxing, nice lighting. Menu was expansive and bit overwhelming, covering the wall. Good thing I was only there for chocolate croissant and coffee. Display of pastries pleasing to the eye. However, I wish I didn’t anticipate anything. The chocolate croissants on display looked like golden, crisp fluffy pillows. I was excited to try but don’t think I should have been. Feelings of anticipation and excitement led to me feeling very let down after trying the chocolate croissant. Upon ordering, no offer for the chocolate croissant to be warmed. It was served on a nice plate, but disposable coffee cups are given? With the nice plate it was served on, I think a coffee mug should have been given for those dining in. Biting into my cold chocolate croissant, agh so flat. A lifeless chocolate croissant. Little chocolate. It even looked empty inside? Air pockets too big. No crisp factor. No cute messy crumb mess after any bite. The look of the chocolate croissant was deceiving. Not the best. There are better places, I know of better places. Although a let down of a bday bfast chocolate croissant, I was still happy I gave myself the time to go for one. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend and overall a 6.5/10 chocolate croissant. Thank you so much.
